Improve Web Traffic - Use Google Alerts

Today's posting is how to use "Google Alerts" (a free SEO tool from Google) to help improve the traffic to your blog!

First off, you need to go to Google Alerts.

Now lets get to the main topic of this posting. (Background first) Google Alerts is a simple and free way to get regular updates about something that interests you. Every time that a new web page appears in the top 20 web results or top 10 news results for the terms you specify, Google Alerts will send you an email.

So, how does this help me get more traffic to my website? The answer is quite simple. In order to keep and or improve your site ranking in search engines...you need to keep your site or blog updated with new and fresh content! And this is where setting up a "Google Alert" will help.

Here are my suggestions/tips for using Google Alerts" to your advantage.

(1) Decide the "keyword or Keywords" that you are interested in! Particularly, the keywords (topic) of your site. A tip that I can share is to get more accurate search results, put your topic in quote ("keyword"). As you start to get alerts from Google in your email box, you will start noticing unwanted words in your results, to get better results from your alerts, go back to your alerts, delete it but put the same previous search back in and add the words that you don't want added behind a "minus" sign. For example, ("Sports news" - hockey, tennis). This will only give you sports results but will exclude hockey and tennis!

(2) Decide how often the alert should be sent, you can choose between "as-it-happens", "once a day" or "once a week". Google will send you emails only when it actually finds new material in the top 20 web results and or the top 10 news results, so you won't be getting alert emails unless Google has something to report. For results that I wanted to be notified quickly, I put them in "as it happens". For a topic that it not that urgent but I want to keep an eye on, I select "once a week". The majority of my Google alerts are set to "once a day".

(3) Decide how you'd like to receive the alerts. You have the option of receiving the alerts from email or in a RSS feed. For each alert you create, a separate email will be sent depending on how often you've chosen to receive it. The second option is that you can also subscribe to the alert via RSS feed in your Google Reader instead of email.

(4) Decide the type of information that you want Google to include in its search. It can be News, Blogs, Web, Comprehensive, Video or Groups. Depending on your needs, you can decide to search only new, or just blogs, or videos. To get all type of searches, use comprehensive.

Now that you have a great free source for content to add to your website, you can keep your site or blog updated with the latest news and information, which should help you to get more traffic to your blog.

Improve Web Traffic - Top Ten Bookmarking Sites

Question:what is a social bookmarking site?

Answer: A social bookmarking site is a site where members can save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. The majority of these social bookmarking site have features such as members ratings and comments on bookmarks, the ability to import and export bookmarks from browsers, emailing of bookmarks, web annotation, and form groups and other social network features like posting immediately on Twitter and or Facebook!

( For more detailed information about Social BookMarking Sites)

So how does a social bookmarking site help get more traffic to my site or blog?
Well the first advantage of some of these social bookmarking sites is that they have a high "PR" value. So, when you submit your site to these site, you instantly recieve a link back to your site, (backlink), and basically a backlink from these sites add "value' to your site. The more value that a site has, generally the higher the site will rank in search engine pages. The better the ranking generally means more traffic from search engine queries.

On that note, here is my list of the Top Ten Social Bookmarking Sites.

Improve Web Traffic - Get Rid Of Broken Links

What are Broken Links?
Basically, Broken Links are links that are no longer active, this can be for a variety of reasons but to explain all the reasons is not the
purpose of this posting.

Again, basically. having Broken Links on your sites might be hindering your website traffic, especially the traffic that you get from search engines! Broken Links can drive your potential customers away and prevent search engines from properly indexing your site.

To help you find Broken Links on your site, Here is a Free Broken Link Tool. That will check your site for Broken Links.

Here a tip for "bloggers", since this Free Broken Link Checker Tool will only check the page that you submit! And it takes too much time to check all your pages, especially if you have setted up each page to have it separate URL. So instead of running each page through, and before I use this tool, I go to my "Settings" (blogger.com) then "Formatting" and change the amount of posts that I have on the main page to "500" "posts" and then I "save: it. Then I run the URL of my main page through the above tool, I ignore any "broken links from blogger.com) and note any links that I have added to my site.

Of course, after doing this and fixing any broken links, I go back to "settings".."formatting" and return my setting (numbers and posts) to what they were before!

Improve Your Site Value For Search Engines - NoFollow Links

Today's posting will be about improving your site value to search engines by adding the "Nofollow" tag!

  • Question: What is a Nofollow Link?

  • Answer: "Nofollow" links are links that a webmaster or blogmaster "tagged" with the "nofollow" attribute. The "nofollow" attribute tells the major search engines that the site being linked to is not necessarily a "trusted" site and that the webmaster doesn't want to share his/her site value with the link.

A "Nofollow" links isn't necessarily or really a negative remark on a site, but a "nofollow" link usually doesn't carry the same weight as a normal link.

For example, if a regular outbound link is a "vote" for another website, a "nofollow" link isn't a vote against the site, but rather like not voting at all. Your basically telling the search engines, "yes, this link is important to my site BUT I am not sharing any "link love" with it".

How to use the "Nofollow" tag:
To use the "Nofollow" tag on a outbound link (a link from your site to another), here the basic coding.

    <*a href="http://othersite.com" rel="nofollow">Other site<*/a>
(note: remove the "*" and change the "othersite.com" and "Other site" to whatever site and keyword that your are linking too)

    I use the "Nofollow" tag:
    1. I have a affiliate site listed
    2. . I will even use the "Nofollow" tag on banners.
    3. I think that the information on the other site is important for my site visitors but not that important

Summary, a "Nofollow" tag may not improve your website traffic but might (it is anyone quess, when it comes to search engines) improve your website ranking, kinda "beginner SEO".

Improve Web Traffic - Deep Linking

An easy way to improve your web traffic is by "deeplinking"! Which is a simple-to-do on-site optimization technique! On-site optimization are the things that you can actually do on your own websites to improve your site for search engines.

First off, what is deep linking?

Well, the term deep linking describes a simple SEO (search engine Optimization) strategy of linking to relevant posts deep within your website. This helps readers and search engines find content no longer on your homepage.

Basically, deepliking helps by keeping your content on your homepage, where the majority of "search engine bots/spiders" visit and human traffic!

To deep link, all you have to do basically, is add a direct link to a previous related article in your posting. Something like a "See My Previous Posting on (posting main content keyword)" link.

Top Ten FREE Traction Building Ideas for a New Web Site

    Free Automatic Backlink

Top Ten FREE Traction Building Ideas for a New Web Site

The dot com era proved that just building it isn't enough. The chicken and the egg issue exists -you need customers to get customers... and attempting to launch a web site, is that issue on steroids. So, how to get traction?

Here are Ten FREE Traction building Ideas we are trying:

    1) Email Your Friends:

Find everyone you know that relates to your target market and introduce them to your website via email... as you know them, leverage every piece of emotional capital you have with them to encourage them to take a look at your new site and join.

    2) Ask Your Friends to Refer Others:

If you send an email to people who are your target market, clearly articulate why it is valuable to 'THEM' (not just you) to join your site... and then ask and make it easy for them to refer people they know. Here's an example of an email I wrote that asks for a referral -

"Please forward to anyone that may be interested... entrepreneurs, advisors, people with Blogs, press contacts etc! Even forwarding to four or five contacts will make a big difference for us!

    Happy New Year and thanks!

    ++

I've just discovered a new web service bringing potential business advisors together with entrepreneurs and early stage businesses. For Advisors - It's a great way to discover new deal flow and get involved in a hot new company. For Entrepreneurs - a great way to take your business to the next level in 2007!

The site is called Advisor Garage - http://www.AdvisorGarage.com and was recently featured in Business Week!

Please sign up and forward this email to great advisors and entrepreneurs.

    ++

After three or four weeks of steps 1 & 2 we found that we had begun to get a few people onboard... So now what?

    3) Write a Press Release and get it OUT there...

I can almost hear a few folks swallowing and already considering looking for the next blog... it really isn't that tough and it isn't expensive. In fact, its FREE! Don't believe me? Consider signing up to PR Leap (http://www.prleap.com/learn_more). Not only do they have some good articles which explain for dummies (like me!) how to write a press release but they also offer a free submission service to multiple channels such as Google News, Google Search, Yahoo! Search, Topix.net, Technorati, MSN, Ask News, Moreover, NewsNow and others. According to their website - PR Leap is the best way to send your news release(s) to all major search engines, newswires, and websites. And basic accounts are free!

So what happened with us? Well we signed up, created a one page press release (took about 30 minutes), submitted it and it was approved earlier today. It will appear tomorrow. If you are interested, the link to the press release is: http://www.prleap.com/pr/61185/

The basic plan (read... Free) comes with stats, so I'll let you know in a few days if the press release was actually read by anyone and if it was picked up by any sites, bloggers, press etc. Let's see how good PR Leap and our press release writing skills are!

    4) A Personalized Toolbar:

A great startup called Conduit (http://www.Conduit.com) offers people the opportunity to create their own, personalized toolbar for FREE. Conduit has a wizard embedded within their website which takes you through the setup process step-by-step. It took about twenty minutes and once you're done, they create a link to your toolbar download site which you can then share through an email signature or through a click through download on your new networking site. There are a number of cool ways to tailor the toolbar... your branded search, create links to particular pages on your own site, add weather, a radio and so on to make sure its a value download for your customers.

    5) Design Your Site with the Customer In Mind and Make Inviting Others Easy

If, like us, your marketing budget is measured by the quarters rattling around in your pocket, then do your site a favor and design it so the 'Invite Others' button is never far away. No matter what page the users happen to be on. Bold it, make it big, underline it if you have to but referrals from happy customers are always easier to get than attracting new customers.

    6) Friends & Contacts Revisisted:

Do any of your friends know anyone in the press or people who have blogs ? Well you won't know until you ask... ASK!

    7) Join Linked In (http://www.linkedin.com)

If you haven't already, consider joining linked in. Yes, its another networking site, and you could consider them the compeitition (In your dreams!)... but after joining you can search through the directory and find people that may either a) be interested in joining your site or b) encouraging others to do so. If you aren't a member already, take a look

    8) Groups & Forums:

Are there Yahoo (http://groups.yahoo.com) or Google Groups (http://groups.google.com) or other online forums that include the types of people you want to attract to your new networking site? If so, join them but beware... most groups want members to contribute to the discussions and no groups appreciate spam. So find the best forums for your target customers, join and spend some time getting to know what subjects are being discussed. Give it a week or two then jump in and add some value... and make sure that your post includes your email and perhaps the web address. If it is valuable, then members may check out your new site...

One last thing, if there aren't any good groups with your target customers... consider creating your own... and make it it feeds your new networking site. Here's one I started and yes... I know it only has a few members... but its more links in the internet for your website which appears in your google or Alexa results: http://groups.google.com/group/Harvard_Entrepreneurs_Startups?lnk=oa&hl=en

    9) Write to your Existing Members:

Do you have a few members? If so, email them occassionally (Not every day!) and remind them of the value of your site... perhaps highlight a particularly useful tool or feature of your website. Maybe reach out to some of the individual members and ask them if you can write about them joining the site, a person feature if you will. At the bottom of each of these emails... give them a few sentences (above for example) to send on to others they know. Stress how much you would appreciate their help and how important they are to you and your young business.

    10) Drum roll... .badda badda badda... .Create a Blog!

Here's hoping that a blog is the tenth and most valuable means of getting the message out there about a new networking site. (Wordpress.com is FREE)

    Good Luck!

    Andrew

    Best Website Traffic Sources

The 3 Best Website Traffic Sources
    By: Jim Edwards

Not a day goes by that any serious website owner doesn't wonder how to get more traffic to their site.

This intense desire to generate more clicks makes virtually any online entrepreneur easy prey to many of the traffic schemes and scams that pervade the Internet like conmen on a carnival midway.

Promises of fast traffic and big bucks often separate even the most savvy business person from their money because they want to believe the promises made by these traffic hucksters.

However, rather than thinking "complicated equals better" in the traffic game, the best website traffic sources rate extremely easy to separate from the useless garbage traffic.

Fact: "Good Traffic" equals "Targeted Traffic!"

That means the visitors come as a result of desire to find out more on a specific, niche topic, not as a result of "exit" traffic or membership in a "safe" list where members simply pitch each other in an incestuous spam fest.

Good traffic comes from people clicking links on topics targeted to their interests and getting directed to a website containing information they want and expect as a result of clicking the link.

Bottom line, when you get right down to it, the best, most dependable sources of targeted traffic come from links that people click.

So, next time you're considering spending money on a traffic source, understand that unless it involves a targeted link that a targeted visitor can click to get to your website, think twice before opening up your wallet.

To my knowledge, only three ways exist to get a link to your site: buy it, "voodoo" it, or grow it.

    ** Buy Links **

Buying links actually rates the fastest way to get traffic to your website.

You simply sign up for Google AdWords at Google.com or you open an account with Overture.com.

You then run ads with a link on those sites and any time someone clicks the link, you pay for the click through a relatively straightforward bidding process based on the popularity of the keyword.

You can also buy links in ezines, newsletters, and on other people's website either on a per-click basis, for a period of time (a week or month), or in exchange for paying them a commission if a sale gets made as a result of a click on the link.

    ** Linking "VoodDoo" **

Linking "voodoo" refers to attempting to manipulate the search engines into displaying links to your website.

You can find a large number of automated software programs online at any given time that will claim to help you get more search engine traffic.

Depending on the intensity of competition in a specific market and the fact that search engines change their rules frequently, pursuing search engine links this way can quickly turn into the online equivalent of Alice chasing the rabbit down the hole.

    ** Grow Links **

I personally prefer this method to get links to my websites: growing them.

The best type of link to get involves one person telling another person, either explicitly or implicitly, they should click the link and visit the site at the other end.

One way to do this is simply to exchange links with another site which targets the same audience as your site.

You can manage this process manually or use one of the many software packages that will mange the process for you.

A search on Google.com for "reciprocal link manager software" yields a good start.

The easiest way to grow a link is through using articles other people post on their websites which link
    back to your website.

The reason articles work so well for "growing" links involves the numerous ways in which articles get distributed online, each of which can create dozens, hundreds, even thousands of different links back to your website by publishing a single article.

In fact, the following represent only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the places you can grow links by publishing articles online.

~ Blogs - Your articles can not only appear on your own blog, but get posted by others on their blogs with surprising ease.

The links in these articles can point directly back to your website.

~ Article Directories - Article directories such as IdeaMarketers.com abound online.

They not only provide an easy way to display your articles to allow others to pick them up for posting on their websites, but also in and of themselves attract readers searching for content.

~ OPS (Other People's Sites) - Popular websites like WebProNews.com attract repeat visitors by offering targeted content to their readers.

Since they can't produce all the content themselves, they publish articles created by others. Links from these sites can bring a steady stream of targeted visitors by giving you targeted exposure.

~ Ezines - By getting your articles published in other people's ezines, you can get a link on the most valuable real estate online, a targeted prospect's email "inbox."

Many ezine publishers run articles written by others to their targeted readers, and your link in the resource box can bring you a veritable avalanche of targeted site visitors when hundreds, even thousands of people receive your article at the same time.

Whether you choose to buy them, "voodoo" them, or grow them, getting targeted links to your site posted on the Internet represents the absolute best way to get steady traffic to your site.

Though not as fast as buying them or as exciting as trying to manipulate the search engines, growing links with articles gives you a long-term, dependable presence online.

    Improve Your Websites Performance

    Improve Your Websites Performance

How well is your website performing? Are you satisfied with the amount of customers who view your website? Do you get enough business through your website? By reading this article you will be in a position to do something about all three questions.

It's all very well having a nicely designed and appealing website for your business but it's of no use if you don't get the customers to visit it. The number one term you will find associated with this is search engine optimisation. You will find endless sources on the Internet telling you to optimise this and optimise that but what does it all mean?

Search engine optimisation simply means making your website as friendly to search engines as possible. Search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN provide your business with the ability to reach a huge amount of customer's, they are by far the most successful method to boost sales for your business. If your website is nicely optimised then you will have a greater chance of appearing higher up on the search engines.

Most customers will type in a phrase into the search engine and view the first couple of websites that it finds, they will usually be successful in finding what they were looking for on the first page of results. Statistics show that customers very rarely look further than the first page (90% don't look past the first page) so what good is it if your website was on page 10? This is where search engine optimisation comes in, it will give your business a greater chance of being on that first golden page in the search engines.

There are many methods that all contribute to a higher ranking but some are more influential than others. The first factor is having a well built website. This is a standard feature that all website design companies should offer.

The second method is keywords. Keywords are the words that are associated with your business, the idea is to include these words in your website so when a customer types in a phrase in a search engine, your website is more likely to appear. Keywords should be chosen carefully to target the correct market for your business. It's no good targeting the word "Fruit" if your business sells website design.

The third factor that contributes to a high search engine ranking is back links. This simply means a link from someone else's website to yours. The more links you have to your website the better. Search engines view your back links as a sign of popularity and obviously the more popular you are the more successful you appear.

One of the best methods for this is to submit your website to online directories, not only will you get a back link but you are also likely to get a lot of customers coming to your website from that link. Make sure that you select trusted directories and one's that can relate to your business, there is a chance that you will get penalised by search engines if you sign up to link farms (websites that collect lot's of spam and poor quality links).

Finally, having a website that is constantly updated also gives you a boost in terms of search engines as they like to see fresh content. This is also likely to draw customers back to your website as they know they are likely to see something new. This in turn will boost the amount of traffic you get to your website which will also help in gaining a higher search engine rank.

These are just some of the methods in which you can improve your website performance, there are many other factors that contribute to a high search engine ranking. Most are an on-going process so it is very beneficial to your business to continually try to improve your performance as there is always someone competing against you for that top spot.

Ultimate SEO Plan for Internet Marketers

Ultimate SEO Plan for Internet Marketers

    How to optimize your site

I don't like doing seo, but its very much needed. Search engine optimization for your website should be one of a webmaster's main goals. Getting traffic from the search engines is not only free but is also constant (depending on what keywords that you are targeting) traffic. Below is a plan that web masters should follow when they decide that they will start optimizing their websites, you should include a combination of onsite and offsite search engine optimization.

Step one: What keywords your going to optimize for

Think of what keywords that you want to target. If you target the wrong keywords then you may never see any results for them, just some common sense. And if you target overly competive keywords then it may take too much time to see results but once you do it will be well worth it. I would recommend targeting in the middle when selecting keywords to optimize your site for when you're starting out.

Here is a free keyword tool that you can use to get an idea of what keywords are popular: http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/.

Just a quick tip when selecting keywords, i usually use the plural version for keywords or keyword phrases because the plural version includes the single one. For example if you have a keyword "shoe" try making it "shoes" because the keyword "shoes" include the keyword "shoe" but its not the same in reverse.

    Step two: Start onsite optimization

This is one layer of search engine optimization and this process includes manipulating the source code of your website with keywords. The places to put keywords in your website includes the title tags, meta tags, within the text of your website, and within links (anchor text).

Title tags: This is the most important part to place keywords in your website and surprisingly a lot of web masters just leave this area blank. Search engine bots show the most prominence (importance) to keywords within the title tag which is why its critical to include keywords here.

    Place keywords here

    Text of document

Meta tags: Place keywords here but be careful not to place too many here or else you will be viewed as spamming the search engines "keyword stuffing." These use to be an easy way to score top rankings in the search engines but the search engines have evolved overtime and this is no longer possible to score high rankings with stuffing the meta tags. You will need a proper combination of onsite and off site optimization which i will explain later. Meta tags goes between the head tags in your source code.

    Description Meta:

This should be a description of your website and always put important keywords in the beginning of the sentence if applicable."

    Meta Keywords:

Some quick tips. Try to use the plural form of your keywords here and to also see if there are common misspellings for popular keywords and lace them here. DO NOT repeat keywords.

    Heading tags:

    Heading Size 1

Make sure to place your keywords here because this helps tells search engines related content on your website.

    Keywords in the anchor text:

This is important, whenever you are linking within your website make sure to place keywords in the links, search engine algorithms like this. For example, if your selling a weight loss product instead of having a link that simply says "click here" have the anchor text say "click here to get the ultimate guide to weight loss." Anchor text code=Keywords go here

    Alt tag

If you have a lot of graphics on your site there are a couple of things you want to do. First, you want to make it small as possible without losing none of the quality if possible. Websites that are bombarded with graphics usually take some time to load which can cause visitors to get impatient and leave so this is important to keep in mind. Also, make sure to place keywords in the image alt tags:

Make sure to actually describe the image, just don't use this as an extra means to stuff keywords, and use the keywords here that you have in your title and meta tags. Make sure to spell correctly (unlike what I'm doing) when your working on the on site optimization for your website. NEVER EVER copy and paste text from word into your html text editor, that can cause all types of complications. Write your keywords up in word and the copy and paste your text into a text editor like notepad or wordpad and then paste it into your html editor.

    Offsite optimization

Offsite optimization has nothing to do with manipulating the source code of your website and relies heavily on links which brings me to my first tip with optimization, and that is to write articles. The funny thing is by getting links to your site is also a quick way to get indexed in the search engines.

    Writing articles:

I like writing articles because the Internet was made for information and when someone is searching for something online they are most likely looking for information that they are searching for, i will assume that you did a good amount of searching today or browsing if your reading this right now. Okay, write and submit articles to website directories. I have tested and founded that a 3% keyword density is usually perfect when writing articles. Always place keywords within the anchor text in the links of your signature.

    Classic blog and ping:

Search engines love blogs, and these are an easy way to get backlinks to your sites. Just open up a free blog at blogger and make a post with a link back to your site. You can also try deep linking by linking to other content parts of your site as well in your blog.

    Blog comment:

Find the top blogs in your niche and leave a comment, but no spamming... thats just tasteless.

    MSN, Google, and Yahoo Homepage:

Make and customize your own personal webpage for each of these search engines and post your articles here with a link back to your website. They also have rss so that you can syndicate your content as well.

    Google: pages.google.com

    Yahoo! my.yahoo.com/

    MSN: my.msn.com

    Press release:

Write and syndicate press release, this is a great way to get backlinks as well as also get some media attention about your website.

    Extensive list (Link bait)

Take the time to make an extensive list of links to useful resources, this is great ways to make your website ready to get eaten up with links.

    Build a 101 list:

These are almost next to impossible to not get linked to and often get dugged often in digg. I wrote an article in a couple of hours titled 101 muscular ways to get more traffic to you website and blogs and this have given me enormous amounts of backlinks and a good amount of traffic from the search engines, blogs it was reposted on, and forums as well. You can also make a separate page on your website for directories. These are great way to link to useful information, but its also a great way to link to pages within your site (if its useful) a process called deep linking.

    Sitemap:

Sitemaps are important because not only does it help make your website easier to navigate for a first time user, it also helps spider your site which will help your content get indexed in the search engines. There is no secret, if the pages are not indexed in the search engines then that means they cannot draw any traffic from them. So, this is where sitemaps come in. Sitemaps are written in xml, a language i don't like but a language the search engines love (same languages that blogs are written in). Once you have your sitempap which has to be in .xml format before you submit to Google go here:

    www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/

Here are some xml sitemap creators:

    http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

    http://pingoat.com/goat/google_sitemap

    http://www.neuroticweb.com/recursos/sitemap/

    Yahoo sitemap

    To submit go here:

    http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

    MSN sitemap

To my current knowledege, MSN doesn't currently have a particular place to submit sitemaps to, but from my understanding if you submit your sitemap to Google, then MSN will pick it up because it can understand that protocol. Go here for more information if your curious: http://sitemaps.org.

This should work for Yahoo! As well, so thats why its important to always submit your sitemmaps to Google. Also, here is another trick that you can do. You can always ping the search engines so that you will tell them that "hey i updated my content come and visit and spider my website you." Here is the code: http://api.moreover.com/ping?u=http://www.YourSiteMapURL

There you have it, a nice summary of what you need to do in order to start an effective search engine optimization plan so quick reading, print this out, and get started working, all the best.

Improve Your Web Traffic - Anchor Texts

Question: What is a Anchor Text?

Answer:. Anchor Text are also known as link text. Anchor text is the visible, clickable text between the HTML anchor and tags. By clicking on a anchor text, you activate a "Hyperlink" (link) to another web site.

Anchor text are very important in Search Engine Optimization (S.E.O.) because search engine algorithms consider the "Hyperlink" keywords as relevant to the "Landing Page". Using Anchor text properly is a key to a successful " backlink" strategy.

Anchor text is a valuable search engine optimization tool because the word or phrase that ae used in anchor texts can be one of the major keywords that the web page is trying to rank for and or pertain directly to the landing page content.

Anchor text is also heavily weighted in search engine algorithms, as algorithms look for the most relevant results for a search query and anchor texts are frequently relevant to the content of the landing page.

Lastly...unless you are trying to rank for the words "Click Here", "See more", "More info here" or other common phrases, use keywords in for you backlinks.

Answer: Backlinks are also known as back link, backward link, or inbound links. Backlinks are all of the links on other websites that direct the users who click on them to your site. They are basically "links back to your site".

Backlinks are also "followed" by the search engine spiders/bots (Google,Yahoo,Bing and etc)and help your site or blog get better indexing.

Backlinks can significantly improve your site's search rankings, particularly if they contain Anchor Text keywords relevant to your site and are located on sites with high Page Rank and or on sites that have a high amount of traffic.
